Black Sabbath (50th Ann. Ed.)

Black Sabbath is the debut studio album by the English rock band Black Sabbath. It was released on 13 February 1970 in the United Kingdom by Vertigo Records and on 1 June 1970 in the United States by Warner Bros. Records. The album is widely regarded as the first album in the heavy metal genre. Additionally, the opening track, the self-titled “Black Sabbath“, has been referred to as the first doom metal song.

Upon release, the album reached number eight on the UK Albums Charts and number 23 on the US Billboard 200. It was included in Robert Dimery’s book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Debut

Debut is the debut studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk as an international singer, released in July 1993 by One Little Indian and Elektra Entertainment. It was produced by Björk and Nellee Hooper. It was Björk’s first recording following the dissolution of her previous band, the Sugarcubes. The album departed from the rock style of her previous work and drew from an eclectic variety of styles, including electronic pophouse musicjazz and trip hop.

Debut received critical acclaim from British music critics, though United States reviews were mixed. It exceeded sales expectations, charting at number two in Iceland, three in the United Kingdom, and 61 in the US. It was certified gold in Canada and platinum in the US, where it remains Björk’s bestselling album.

Solid Gold Hits

Solid Gold Hits is a greatest hits collection by Beastie Boys, released in November 2005. In contrast to 1999’s The Sounds of Science anthology, Solid Gold Hits consists only of tracks that were released as singles, with the exception of “Shake Your Rump”. Where The Sounds of Science is a double CD compilation, Solid Gold Hits contains one CD with all their singles that broke gold, plus a DVD with the respective videos of the songs. Although the standard US release of the CD/DVD has 15 songs, the Japanese release has a bonus song and video, “Right Right Now Now”.
